NAB 2013: Adobe highlighting new video workflows

Highlights of Adobe’s presence include the first public demonstrations of the next generation of its video tools, including Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects SpeedGrade, Adobe Audition Adobe Prelude, Adobe Media Encoder and Adobe Story.

The next version of Adobe video tools has been developed with features created in direct response to the needs of filmmakers, broadcasters and video professionals. By way of example, the Coen brothers have been working directly with the Adobe Premiere Pro product team and are switching to Adobe Premiere Pro for their next feature film slated for late 2013.

“Broadcasters, filmmakers and video professionals are looking for modern tools that meet the demands of today’s evolving video industry,” says Steve Warner, vice president of product development, Adobe. “Adobe’s video tools revealed today provide content creators with one powerful toolset to help them produce exceptional content and streamline workflows. From Academy Award winning filmmakers like the Coen brothers to global broadcasters, these innovative tools are what will continue to drive the shift to Adobe video solutions across the broadcast and media industries.”

The next version of Adobe Premiere Pro heralds increased customisation capabilities, significant new shortcuts for faster, keyboard-driven editing, Link & Locate to quickly relink media, and an expanded set of supported media formats let editors work smarter and faster. It also has more powerful colour workflows with the addition of the Lumetri Deep Colour Engine, to easily apply rich colour grading looks directly in Adobe Premiere Pro. Or users can send files to the newly redesigned Adobe SpeedGrade for precise control over every aspect of their project’s colour and light. The next version of SpeedGrade sports a greatly improved user interface designed with efficiency in mind.

A new version of Adobe After Effects brings motion graphics and visual effects artists more creative possibilities and allows them to work easily in 3D with the new Live 3D Pipeline with Maxon Cinema4D integration. The Refine Edge tool enables faster, superior rotoscoping results and the Warp Stabiliser VFX feature allows users to stabilise a specific portion of a shot. New creative tools in Adobe Audition include Sound Remover and Preview Editor to help improve overall sound quality.

Logging and ingest tool Adobe Prelude has matured since its release at NAB 2012 with a new ability to scrub thumbnails in the project panel to quickly see imported footage. Adobe Prelude now also adds metadata during ingest, while editing is faster with new Adobe Story panels giving Adobe Prelude and Adobe Premiere Pro users access to Story scripts, and the ability to match the script to clips and using Speech to Text analysis.
