NAB 2013: Forbidden Technologies, EVS showing cloud workflows

Forbidden Technologies, developer of the FORscene Cloud video platform, has partnered with EVS to promote Cloud sports and news workflows at NAB 2013. A PoC solution is on display at the EVS booth.

Forbidden’s FORscene is being shown interfaced with EVS’s IPDirector to allow remote, browser based editing of footage in sports centres or newsroom. Remote edits are being conformed against broadcast quality footage centrally for transmission. Additionally, FORscene can be seen working with EVS’s Xedio Dispatcher to support remote acquisition and editing of news footage by journalists in the field.

Luc Doneux, EVP Sports division at EVS, says: “We watched with interest as FORscene was used by sports broadcasters in 2012 to enhance their coverage of the major sporting events of the summer. The time has come to integrate FORscene with IPDirector and Xedio Dispatcher to allow our clients to benefit from the cost advantages and flexibility of cloud-based workflows.”

Stephen Streater, CEO, Forbidden Technologies, adds: “EVS have firmly established an excellent reputation in their chosen fields. Integrating FORscene with the EVS platform creates an inspiring combination. Clients in the sports and news markets have a treat in store.”

In other news, EVS has launched LSM Connect, a new tablet-based app for enhanced content and playlist management. The new solution, which extends the product portfolio of EVS Sports, is an optional companion to the MulticamLSM panel, which is used by more than 7000 operators across the globe for live sports broadcasting.

Directly connected to the LSM remote and the XT live production server, LSM Connect gives operators instant access to, and control of, all clips and playlists created during live broadcast production using the MulticamLSM controller.

Designed with input from LSM operators, the app increases production efficiency by making operations – such as clip indexing, searching, and drag-and-drop playlist creation – quicker and easier to manage.

“LSM Connect is the beginning of a new chapter in the industry-standard LSM user surface,” says Luc Doneux, EVP Sports Division at EVS. “As part of our ongoing efforts to develop practical innovations that improve live outside broadcast operations, LSM Connect delivers unmatched flexibility and efficiency, giving operators more time to focus on creative tasks.”
