Nordic Summit 2020: Vizrt sports chief Nelson to make opening remarks

SVG Europe and NCE Media Bergen are very pleased to announce that Vizrt head of sports for Europe Thomas Nelson will make the opening remarks as part of the company’s Title Sponsorship for Nordic Summit 2020.

The event will take place on Thursday 12 March in Bergen’s Media City. Nelson is head of Vizrt’s head of sports for Europe where he drives the sports sales team and business development across the region.

Over the past 10-plus years Nelson has focused on technical sports solutions, business development and key account management for Vizrt’s customers globally such as Sky Sports, Fox Sports, STAR India, beIN Sports and others. Prior to joining Vizrt Nelson spent eight years working with various sports broadcasters covering major events, including the FIFA World Cup.

The city of Bergen is corporate HQ and R&D home for Vizrt, which employs 700 employees in 30 offices around the world. Last year Vizrt acquired NewTek, a media technology company specialising in affordable tools for microbroadcasters and live production teams.

The Nordic Summit programme will feature a mixture of presentations and panel discussions with a particular emphasis on providing real-world examples of how both sports and news broadcasters and their technology partners are collaborating to solve a variety of production and distribution challenges.

Topics will include cost-effective sports production, remote production, the cloud-based newsroom, eSports, fan engagement and more. As with all SVG Europe events, Nordic Summit 2020 will also feature a host of networking opportunities, before, during and after the event.

Last year’s event attracted more than 200 delegates from across the Nordics and Northern Europe. Speakers included representatives from NRK, SVT, TV2 Denmark, BBC Sport and Fox Sports.

The 2020 event will also include a pre-conference Early Bird networking reception in the Media Lab at Media City on the evening of Wednesday 11 March.
