Ravensbourne goes behind the scenes with SVG Europe
Educational efforts by SVG Europe and the SVG gave members of Ravensbourne faculty and students an opportunity to see first hand how a professional sports broadcast comes together courtesy of SVG Chairman Steve Hellmuth. Hellmuth, who is also executive vice-president, operations and technology for NBA Entertainment, was in London for the production of an NBA game at the O2 Arena, located next door to Ravensbourne, the UK educational institution that teaches students production skills for TV, film, and new media delivery.
The tour was part of a new programme launched by SVG Europe designed to spur interest in a career in sports production and to help students understand some of the technologies that are specific to sports production.
“For some this was their first visit to an OB, while for others it was an invaluable insight into how such complex event coverage is achieved,” says Martin Uren, subject leader broadcast technology, Ravensbourne.
