SVG Europe publishes programme for Next Generation Audio Summit 2018

A panel of broadcast engineers reflecting on recent immersive audio sports projects, chaired by Sky Sports Technical Manager Robin Broomfield, and an examination of the innovative audio production carried out at the 2018 French Open will be among the top attractions at the third annual Next Generation Audio Summit, taking place in London on 31 October.

The event – which will be hosted by Dolby at its facilities in Soho Square – will follow the journey ‘from theory to reality’ as immersive and object-based audio technologies start to be applied to a wide range of sports, including football, tennis and boxing.

Sessions will include:

– A panel of broadcast engineers reflecting on recent immersive audio sports projects, chaired by Sky Sports Technical Manager Robin Broomfield;

– A detailed examination of the immersive audio production carried out at the 2018 French Open tennis championships at Roland Garros, Paris;

– An exploration of the 2018 revision to the AES67 interoperability standard, and a general update on the adoption of IP audio for sports broadcasting;

– A closing panel about ‘best practices and future possibilities’ for immersive audio production of sports.

There will also be a buffet-style networking lunch, post-event networking drinks, and a special screening of recent immersive audio footage.

“The number of projects involving an immersive audio component has increased dramatically over the last 12 months, which means there couldn’t be a better moment to take stock of the progress of Next Generation Audio technologies. Once again we are delighted to be working with Dolby on what promises to be a fascinating day of sessions exploring the present and future of broadcast audio for sports,” says SVG Europe Contributing Editor David Davies.

As space is limited, registration for this summit will be primarily on an invite-only basis, but if you would like to enquire about eligibility please email David Davies: [email protected].
