Tightrope Upgrades to Cablecast 5.1

Tightrope Media Systems (Booth C9511) is exhibiting Cablecast 5.1 software upgrade. Cablecast offers local cable origination an affordable, yet sophisticated solution for station automation and playing out content. The release of Cablecast 5.1 provides Integrated Channel Branding using a station bug, bug text, and a crawl with custom background and foreground graphics.

Also, Automatic Downconversion (HD to SD) and Upconversion (SD to HD) has been added, and Cablecast will either downconvert HD files for playout on an SD cable channel or upconvert SD files on an HD channel.

Cablecast has added to its already robust file-validation process by checking the file in three locations before it is certified for playout. Users will benefit from added Video on Demand (VOD) support, because Cablecast now includes a Microsoft Silverlight player for VOD files. This addition makes VOD files playable on Mac computers, and the player can be embedded on the Cablecast public site.

And Cablecast SX2HD servers now support CEA-708 closed captioning, including all HD format for decodes and encodes (CEA-608 and CEA-608 in 708). Cablecast SXLE, SX2, and SX4 servers support all SD closed-captioning formats.
