Encoding and live streaming specialist Soliton Systems announces new reseller

After recently announcing its new EMEA office, Soliton Systems, an established Japanese manufacturer of real-time mobile encoding and live video streaming over 3G/4G networks, has confirmed its first reseller for the Italian market.

Sematron Italia, a 34-year-old company that specialises in RF and microwave streaming for broadcasters, has chosen Soliton to complement its service and broadcast offerings. This includes the Soliton ZAO, a mobile camera H.265 encoder, as well as the Soliton range of smart phone applications for recording and delivering video in real-time over the mobile phone network.

Soliton Systems manufactures the Smart-telecaster ZAO product, which is used for live events and news environments to stream live video content, over traditional mobile 3G or 4G networks, back to the broadcast and playout environment. The ZAO product was the first global mobile H.265 hardware-based transmitter.

“The ZAO product has gained a lot of momentum in a short time and we are already winning new clients” says Mark Andrews, sales manager of Soliton Systems Europe. “We recently opened the new office in Amsterdam and the units are being aggressively tested by a range of potential users across Europe. We are very pleased that Sematron Italia have done their own successful evaluation and decided to resell our range of products.”

Andrews continues: “We look forward to working with Sematron Italia and serving their customers with our innovative technology.”

Massimo Ronchi, broadcast division manager at Sematron Italia, adds: “We have been aware of Soliton for quite some time and when they opened an office in Europe, we took the opportunity to evaluate a ZAO unit. We were extremely impressed with its performance and picture quality, even at low bandwidths, especially when compared to other manufacturers.”

Ronchi adds: ”We even loaned the unit to one of our customers and now they are reluctant to give it back and have already ordered! The unit just sells itself.”

Sematron Italia has two main offices in Rome and Milan, and has acquired a demo ZAO unit that can be used by its clients for evaluation.
