Extreme E partners with TV4 and MTV for 2024 season

Extreme E has extended its broadcast partnership with TV4 in Sweden and Finland for the 2024 campaign.

The agreement ensures live coverage of the remainder of the Season 4 Extreme E calendar, with the championship to be shown on both linear and digital platforms TV4 Play (Sweden) and MTV Katsomo (Finland), including highlights, previews and review shows, along with Extreme E’s magazine programme ‘Electric Odyssey’.

There is a huge passion for off-road racing both in Sweden and Finland, with both boasting a wealth of rallying and rallycross drivers alongside their exploits in Extreme E.

For the 2024 campaign alone there are six Swedes battling it out on track – current champions Johan Kristoffersson and Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky, as well as series race winners Timmy Hansen, Kevin Hansen, Mattias Ekström and Klara Andersson. Former Formula One race winner Heikki Kovalainen became the first Finnish driver to compete in the series in 2023, debuting for Jenson Button’s JBXE outfit last season.

Ali Russell, Managing Director at Extreme E, said: “Both Sweden and Finland are crucial markets for Extreme E and I am delighted to extend our agreement with TV4. Hosting our pioneering racing championship across TV4 Play and MTV Katsomo ensures our broadcast menu remains strong as our fourth season gathers pace. E-mobility is a key pillar of our championship, and both countries recognise its importance which is vital.

“In our four seasons both countries have provided strong talents for our championship, with Sweden’s Johan and Mikaela the current Extreme E champions, and we look forward to seeing the series’ on and off track exploits shown to Swedish and Finnish audiences once again through our partnership with TV4.”

Johan Cederqvist, Chief Sports Officer TV4, added: “Extreme E has a lot of exciting drivers in this year’s starting field, especially the Swedish ones. This is a great complement to our other motorsport rights.”
