LaCie, axle Video collaborate on more efficient media storage and management

LaCie, leader in direct-attached and NAS-based storage, and axle Video, the company redefining media management, have teamed up to provide smaller production groups and independent producers with an efficient solution to their growing storage and management challenges.

Comprised of axle Video’s easy to use browser-based media management software and LaCie’s 5big NAS Pro storage which offers a cloud-based storage option, users can now start with a scalable investment  and gain exceptional flexibility, performance, security, and ease of use. The solution is compatible with virtually any folder organization, and search, review, collaboration and storage management are all accomplished through straightforward browser-based user interfaces.

axle Video media management lets users browse, select, log, collaborate, and approve using transparently created media proxies. The original media can reside on LaCie 5big NAS Pro as networked hard disk storage, cloud-based storage, or both. The option of cloud storage means that users can start with a very reasonable investment, and instantly scale storage up or down as needed.  In addition, recent optimizations to LaCie’s NAS OS 3 mean that network write and read speeds to and from RAID5 can exceed 100 Mbytes per second, making 1080p editing possible.
