NAB 2024: Telos Alliance and AWS to collaborate on live cloud production demo

Telos Alliance is collaborating with Amazon Web Services (AWS) for the AWS Live Cloud Production demonstration at the 2024 NAB Show in Las Vegas.

AWS will highlight the advantages of cloud-based tools for broadcast with a live-production showcase, featuring a dynamic four-person TV news desk situated in the heavily trafficked lobby of the West Hall. Anchored by leading industry professionals, live streaming coverage with up to three guests at a time will be broadcast live for the duration of the NAB Show event. The production will be orchestrated from a control room within the AWS booth in the West Hall, with the content routed via a Master Control facility in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and streamed online for global audiences. Additionally, AWS plans to have roving reporters covering the show from various locations inside the exhibition.

Telos Alliance’s contribution to this real-world illustration of the power of virtualisation includes the provision of an AWS cloud-deployed Telos Infinity VIP intercom system to facilitate seamless communication for the creative and technical teams across all three locations. An Axia iQx AoIP mixing console will be stationed at the news desk to provide low-latency local foldback to talent and guests, while an Axia Altus virtual mixing system deployed in the AWS cloud will handle audio mixing for the show.

AWS’s roving reporters will utilise the Infinity VIP mobile app (for Android and iOS devices) to maintain constant IFB and engineering coordination comms throughout the Las Vegas Convention Center.

“We’re excited to collaborate with AWS to provide state-of-the-art audio and communication solutions for the Live Cloud Production showcase at NAB Show,” said Scott Stiefel, CEO of Telos Alliance. “Industry leaders tell us that virtualised live-production tools are already transforming broadcast workflows; what we’ve seen so far is just the tip of the iceberg. Telos Alliance remains dedicated to advancing technology in this space, and our collaboration with AWS at NAB Show 2024 underscores our commitment to driving innovation in the media industry.”

Telos Alliance will be responsible for deploying, configuring and maintaining all elements of the audio and communication systems throughout the duration of the event, helping to ensure a seamless and immersive experience for participants and viewers alike.
