ATP Media and Deltatre serve up premium broadcast graphics
ATP Media has rolled out a brand-new set of broadcast graphics, changing the way tennis fans consume live data and insights.
Designed by Deltatre and ATP Media, and created and implemented by Deltatre, the premium new graphics were initially rolled out ahead of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells in 2022, with bespoke packs created for key events, including the Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan and the ATP Finals in Turin.
The continually evolving graphics pack was enhanced throughout the 2022 season with several new AI-generated contextual insights and the graphics pack also implemented live rankings from the start of the 2023 season, bringing the viewer a whole new perspective of real-time play as it unfolds.
ATP Media has enriched tennis production over the years by integrating multiple data sources into one output. Editorially relevant information is used by Deltatre operators to tell the story of the match through the data, enhancing the coverage and adding relevance and context to each match.
Inspired by neumorphism, the new graphics deliver a modern interpretation of data and insights for tennis fans, with a dynamic bug as the central point of storytelling, displaying impactful stats at key moments. The focus on data also enables ATP Media and Deltatre to work closely with commentators to deliver stats of interest to the viewer.
Tournament locator maps have helped enhance the storytelling during live broadcasts, delivering visualisations not previously seen in the sport, including 3D maps that bring the geography of the venue to life. These maps are used during the programmes to keep the viewer informed of the schedule and scores across each court.
Over the course of the 2023 season, Deltatre’s graphics will help to deliver 250 days of tennis, equating to more than 17 hours of live tennis every day of the year, including the upcoming Internazionali BNL d’Italia.
Deltatre has worked with ATP Media on its broadcast graphics since 2017.
Dominic Gresset, director of production and content services at ATP Media, said: “ATP Media’s partnership with Deltatre has grown from a common goal to create and deliver the best, most consistent output with an engaging graphic package both visually and editorially.
“It’s of paramount importance to ATP Media to push the boundaries in all aspects of our production while maintaining the highest standards across our 60 tournaments each year, to deliver the best tennis production to our broadcast partners and fans around the world.”
Andrea Marini, CEO at Deltatre, said: “Deltatre has been working with ATP Media for over half a decade now, and we are thrilled to see our latest set of broadcast graphics for them come to life.
“Our new premium graphics not only provide never-seen-before insights and contextual data to tennis fans but also help to enhance the storytelling and viewer experience during live broadcasts. We are excited to continue delivering these cutting-edge graphics to tennis fans worldwide and we are enjoying seeing them in action again at the Monte-Carlo Masters.”
