Icelandic Handball Federation and Spiideo join forces to pioneer AI-driven handball productions

The Icelandic Handball Federation (HSI), the governing body for handball in Iceland, has chosen Spiideo as its partner to integrate cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) technology and low-latency feeds into its handball productions across Iceland.

HSI’s vision for elevating handball production and accessibility has led to the installation of Spiideo cameras in all official arenas in Iceland. This ambitious project will encompass the top four men’s and women’s leagues, offering a production feed to the country‘s leading tel-co, Siminn for its over-the-top and set-top box platforms, app and through linear TV. Spiideo will also provide a low-latency feed for betting providers and an automated game archive for teams stored in the Spiideo League Exchange.

Furthermore, HSI is committed to extending this technology to cover all youth and amateur games played in these arenas, ensuring that handball enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels have access to high-quality production and analysis tools.

“We are excited to embark on this groundbreaking partnership with Spiideo based on the latest developments in AI automated production and innovative distribution configuration, making HSI the first handball federation in the world to fully embrace AI technology for sports productions throughout all levels. Our decision was fuelled by Spiideo’s exceptional solutions and a desire to offer our fans, athletes and partners an unparalleled handball experience,” said Robert Geir Gíslason, CEO at HSI.

The collaboration between HSI and Spiideo signifies a historic step towards transforming handball production and analysis, setting a new standard for sports federations worldwide.

“We are honoured to welcome the Icelandic Handball Federation to the Spiideo family. This partnership underscores our commitment to advancing sports technology and providing unparalleled solutions for sports production. Together with HSI, we aim to redefine the way handball is experienced and enjoyed,” stated Spiideo CEO & co-founder, Patrik Olsson.
